I came upon Cosplay Piano via The Mary Sue, and hot-damn am I glad I took the time to actually watch it instead of letting it get lost in the sea of tabs that constitute my browser.
Cosplay Piano is one of the shows from Stan Lee’s new YouTube channel “World of Heroes“; there’s only 3 episodes so far, but if you like cosplay and have any sort of affinity for music (and, I suppose, like The Walking Dead, Batman, or Superman), you’re going to love it. Basically, a young woman – Sonya Belousova - plays the theme song to a movie or TV show while in cosplay attire from that movie or show. So far it’s very enjoyable.
What’s not to like about zombies that play violin? And the little bit of cheese at the end? Love it.
Neither of the other 2 videos are nearly as detailed as the one for The Walking Dead, but each has their own little flares outside of the costumes themselves. Episode 2 is kept dark and sleek, with a lovely black grand piano (as opposed to that scratched-up upright for Episode 1) and she plays with the slight feline sexiness that is Catwoman. The Superman video (Episode 3) is warmer, with her dressed as Lois Lane. And even though I was never a big Superman fan, I couldn’t help but grin when the main theme kicked in. It’s all beautifully played.
Anyway, the videos are clever and fun, and the music is lovely. I’m adding them to my YouTube list and looking forward to their next installment!
